College Visits
Dozens of college representatives visit St. Margaret's during the fall semester. They are visiting to speak with interested students as well as to learn more about our school.
Juniors and seniors are invited to attend these sessions. Weekly visits to SMES will be posted on the College Counseling website under News and Events. In addition, they will be posted on Naviance under College Visits. If you are interested in a school that is coming on campus, we strongly encourage you to attend the meeting. You will have the opportunity to meet the representative who will very likely review your application.
If you decide to meet with a representative, you must obtain a College Visit Request Form from the College Counseling office which must be signed by the teacher of the class you will be missing. You must have this form completed no later than one day prior to the meeting. In addition, the college counselor must sign the form as well to verify your attendance. If you are interested in a school that is visiting but you cannot miss class due to a test or other reason, let your college counselor know and s/he will have the representative leave information for you. We will tell the representative that you are interested but could not attend.
There are other opportunities in the fall to meet admission representatives. Many colleges hold evening information sessions at hotels or other local venues; this setting allows parents to attend. Area information sessions will be posted on the bulletin board and Naviance.
Visiting Colleges
We strongly encourage students and families to visit college campuses during high school. Whether you visit one of our outstanding local college campuses or travel further afield, we recommend that you contact the visitor information office of the college either online or via phone to schedule a campus tour and/or information session. There are also professional college tour companies that offer tours during vacation breaks for groups of students to certain regions of the country and Canada. St. Margaret's students have travelled with the The College Authority to the East Coast and throughout California. College Visits also offers a number of regional college tours during the summer. Please contact these companies directly for more information.
